Truth be told, I am like most of you out there. I come from a very middle-class family, living in a 4-room HDB flat. Not poor but far from being rich. But I can safely say that I am financially healthier than 80% of my peers, through saving & investing my monies.
I started learning about investing 15 years ago; worked for major banks such as Citi, Lehman & Nomura in investment roles; and have accumulated more paper qualifications than I like (I had wanted to skip college and go straight to work, post NS)
So I am really like most of you out there. Except that I may be (slightly) ahead financially. Largely because I invest.
--- What do I believe in? ----
I believe.... that the world can be a better place; that my biggest fear is to die without making a difference to this world.
I believe.... that most problems that can be solved by $ are not issues; the solution to most 'problems' is therefore to have more $ and investing is a key pathway to that end.
I believe.... that meritocracy is the way to go; and that those worth helping are those who are committed and willing to put in at least some effort.
--- What does it mean? ---
It means that I believe people should be at least financially literate and I am willing to teach it for free. In doing so, I hope to help make a difference to the world
It means that I believe that investing is not for everyone and only those who are willing and committed are worth teaching. And the best way to filter these people out is by charging a fee for my classes. And yes, its about making $ too. But its a win-win proposition. [Note: financial literacy is not the same as investing; different classes]
It also mean that if you are a lazy and greedy, please get lost and sign up for some get-rich-quick scams instead. I have no time for you. But if you have read till this point, you are probably not that lazy. So I respect you, so please keep reading this blog and find out what it is about.
